We are excited to share the launch of the Casa Oso Foundation website and officially introduce our organization to the broader Sierra Nevada community.
Who We Are
Casa Oso Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a focused mission: to provide wildfire, housing, and poverty assistance to people in the Sierra Nevada. We believe that every person in our mountain communities deserves safety, shelter, and stability—and that when neighbors come together, remarkable things are possible.
Why We Exist
The Sierra Nevada is one of California’s most beautiful and beloved regions. It’s also home to communities that face significant and growing challenges: increasingly destructive wildfires, a housing affordability crisis, and persistent rural poverty.
These aren’t abstract problems. They’re the reality for thousands of our neighbors—the families who have lived in these mountains for generations, the workers who keep our local economies running, the seniors who built these communities, and the children who deserve every opportunity to thrive.
What We Do
Our three core programs reflect the interconnected nature of the challenges our neighbors face:
- Wildfire Assistance – emergency relief, recovery support, and rebuilding help for fire survivors
- Housing Support – eviction prevention, emergency housing connections, and long-term housing stability
- Poverty Relief – food, utilities, essential needs, and pathways to economic stability
Join Us
There are many ways to be part of this work. You can donate, volunteer, or simply share our mission with people who care about the Sierra Nevada.
We’re just getting started, and we’re grateful for every person who joins us on this journey.
With gratitude,
The Casa Oso Foundation Team
